Sharing Documents
Share documents securely with clients, opposing counsel, or other external parties through Infera's flexible sharing system.
How to Share Documents
- Click Shares in the matter menu.
- Click New Share to start the sharing flow.
- You'll see a list of all documents for this matter. You can filter and search documents just like in the main documents view.
- Select the documents you want to share. You can:
- Select individual documents
- Use Select All on Matter to include every document in the matter
- Use Select All on Page to select all currently visible documents
- Click Continue to proceed to share details.
Share Details
On the share details screen, you can configure:
- Share Type: Indicate if this share is an Initial Disclosure or a Response to Request for Production (RTP).
- Recipient Email: Enter the email address of the party receiving the documents.
- Recipient Name: Add the name of the recipient or party (for your records).
- Message: Optionally include a message to the recipient.
Security and Access Options
Before creating the share, you can choose to enhance security:
- Password Protection: Require a password for access. If enabled, enter a password and share it with the recipient through a separate channel (phone, text, etc.).
- Expiration: Set when the share link will expire (Never, 7 days, 30 days, or choose a custom date).
Note: If you do not enable password protection or expiration, your share link will be accessible to anyone who has the link.
Creating and Sending the Share
- After filling in share details and security options, click Create Share.
- The recipient will receive an email with a secure link to access the shared documents.
Managing Shared Documents
- To view and manage all your shares, return to the Shares section in the matter sidebar.
- You can see a list of all documents you've shared, filter shares, and review details about each share, including activity by the recipient.
Revoking Access
If you need to stop sharing a document or group of documents:
- In the Shares section, find the share you want to revoke.
- Click the trash can icon to delete the share and revoke access.
- Confirm the action if prompted.
The recipient’s link will immediately become inactive and they will no longer be able to access the documents.
